The quality and caliber of food in New Orleans makes it a gourmand's dream. From high end restaurants to dive bars, visitors will enjoy flavorful cuisine. As a proud foodie, one of my favorite things about New Orleans is the food. I'm excited to share some of my favorite establishments in New Orleans with you.

Restaurants/Drinks

Acme Oyster House (multiple locations)

Image from Yelp

French Quarter Address: 724 Iberville St, New Orleans, LA 70130

Acme is a popular restaurant to enjoy traditional Creole dishes. I highly recommend checking this place out if you are looking for a lively atmosphere with amazing food. They are well-known for their chargrilled oysters along with many other amazing dishes. The cheesy and buttery flavor of the oysters is phenomenal and is served with a soft French bread that can be used to dip in the extra buttery sauce on your plate. Chargrilled oysters here are a personal favorite of mine.😋 Another dish that holds an amazing reputation is their gumbo. Acme serves the best seafood gumbo that I have ever had. Their jambalaya and fried shrimp platters are also very tasty. For the sweets lovers, save room for dessert and try the banana foster cheesecake. It infuses caramel and banana flavors with a light whipped cheesecake texture that always satisfies my craving. Be prepared for a long wait if you visit during peak dinner hours.

Felix's Restaurant and Oyster Bar (multiple locations)

Conveniently located directly across the street from Acme Oyster house, Felix's provides a casual dining experience to enjoy great food. The chargrilled oysters here are incredible! The flavor of the garlic butter sauce is delectable and I highly recommend trying them. Their gumbo is also great. Be prepared to wait during peak dinner hours.

Drago's Seafood Restaurant (multiple locations)

Address: 2 Poydras St, New Orleans, LA 70112

Drago's offers a classy atmosphere for tasty seafood and traditional New Orleans dishes. Like Acme and Felix's, Drago's has phenomenal chargrilled oysters served with French bread. Their lobster is cooked perfectly with a nice sized portion is filling. During peak dinner hours be prepared for a long wait.

Lil' Dizzys Cafe

Address: 1500 Esplanade Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70116

This popular establishment is a must-try when visiting New Orleans. The gumbo here is full of flavor and tastes like it was prepared by experienced hands. The fried catfish has a light and crispy exterior while the inside is soft and tasty. You would be doing yourself a disservice if you do not try their mac and cheese  because it is fantastic. Before visiting this establishment, I've never tried Catfish Jourdain so this was an wonderful way to expand my palate. This dish includes fried catfish topped with crab and shrimp in a creamy lemon butter sauce. The citrus in the lemon accentuated the flavors of the perfectly prepared seafood helping to make this dish a delectable treat. This establishment closes early and sometimes has a wait during peak hours.

Deanie's Seafood (multiple locations)

French Quarter Address: 841 Iberville St., New Orleans, LA 70112

This restaurant is well-known for providing good food. Soon after being seated, they provide complimentary red potato appetizers that are a nice way to start off your dining experience when famished. This is a great place to enjoy the quintessential New Orleans dishes. Their jambalaya is incredible and full of savory meat and rice with a full bodied flavor. Their crawfish etouffee is amazing and full of creamy sauce with perfectly prepared crawfish. The etoufee is one of my favorite dishes here! Be prepared to wait if you visit during peak dinner hours.

Port of Call

Address: 838 Esplanade Ave., New Orleans, LA 70116

This bar has cheap and strong drinks with a chill atmosphere. It is conveniently located at the end of Frenchmen Street if you want a drink or bite to eat while enjoying the scenery. One of the many things that I love about New Orleans is that the quality of some bar food is comparable to what you would find in a fine dining experience. This place is no exception.😄 Port of Call has hands down one of the best burgers that I have ever tried! The thick and juicy patty is cooked perfectly with a thick layer of cheese and soft bun. Their portions are huge so make sure you bring your appetite. After a night out, their burgers are a great way to soak up the alcohol and avoid a hangover.

Vieux Carre Pizza

Address: 733 St Louis St, New Orleans, LA 70130

This is one of my favorite cheap eats spots. This is the best pizza place in New Orleans. They have a chicken pesto pizza that is exceptional. The flavor of the pesto is yummy with a slight hint of garlic and the dough is soft and fluffy. Their other pizza slices are equally yummy. They also have an amazing shrimp fettuccine alfredo that will knock you socks off. The portion is huge and can easily be shared by two people. The creamy flavor of the sauce will have you coming back for more. This spot is open late and perfect for some late night food after a night out on Bourbon Street.

Satsuma Cafe (multiple locations)

Address: 3218 Dauphine St, New Orleans, LA 70117

I love this place because of the assortment of fresh squeezed juices and healthy meal options that they provide. Satsuma has a great turkey pesto sandwich and kale salad that are amazing. The atmosphere here is of a chill bohemian cafe and is situated in one of my favorite neighborhoods called Bywater. After enjoying your meal here, take a short walk over to Country Club for a relaxing dip in the pool or jacuzzi. This establishment closes at 3pm so get there early!

Pat O'Brien's (multiple locations)

Image from Google

Address: 624 Bourbon Street, New Orleans, LA 70130

This historic bar is one of the most famous places that serves the Hurricane drink. The hurricane is a a sweet alcoholic beverage that tastes similar to Hawaiian punch. I highly recommend trying one when you visit Pat's. Be careful! While the great taste of the drink can mask the alcohol, their drinks are definitely strong. A unique feature of this bar is that dueling pianists regularly perform allowing you to enjoy live music with your beverage of choice. This bar is popular amongst visitors.

Cafe Du Monde (multiple locations)

Image from Cafe du Monde website https://shop.cafedumonde.com/

Address: 800 Decatur Street New Orleans, LA 70116

When you are craving a quintessential New Orleans dessert, Cafe Du Monde will satisfy your urge. Their menu is simple consisting of beignets and a few choices of drink. Beignets are a pastry topped with powdered sugar that has a similar consistency to a donut but is made from a different dough composition. Cafe Du Monde serves beignets in orders of three, six or a dozen. You will want to be sure to order a coffee or hot chocolate so that you may dip your beignet into it. During peak hours there may be a long wait.
